Ewing, NJ- The Hunter College Hawks traveled to the Campus of The College of New Jersey to being their 2022 - 2023 regular season. The Hawks came out with stellar defense to limit the lions to just 11 points in the first quarter holding them to 12% from the field, Unfortunately the Hawks offense was also being stalled.
In a low scoring first half The College of New Jersey went into the break up 29-14. Coming out of the break the hosts came out firing on all cylenders and opened up a 20 point lead. Hunter responded with a 12-0 run that quickly made it an 8 point game with three minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. But the uphill fight proved to be too much as New Jersey responded and got the lead back to double digits and never looked back.
Freshman Alexa Charles making her college debut had a triple double for the Hawks with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals, she led both teams in all three categories. THe Hawks will travel to St. Mary;s of Maryland Seahawk Tip off on Friday night to take on Univeristy of Pittsburgh-Bradford at 7pm.
