St. Mary's City, MD- The Hunter College Women's Basketball team took home the St. Mary's of Maryland Seahawk Invitational with a 70-51 win over St. Joseph's of Brooklyn. Alexa Charles was named to the All-tournament team and
Kimberly Lau was named the tournament MVP. Hunter went 2-0 on the weekend, and improved to 2-1 on the season.
Freshman Alexa Charles once again led the way with 19 points on 9-15 shooting, she also had a game high 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Fellow freshman Kennedy DeRuy notched her best statistical performance of her young college career with 10 Points and 10 rebounds and 4 steals. As a team the Hawks had 19 steals, 45 rebounds and held St. Joseph's to 29% shooting from the field and 17% from 3, while causing 31 turnovers. The Hawks return to action on Tuesday 11/15 when they host Pratt at 5pm, with the men's game to tip off at 7pm.
