New York- The Hunter College women's basketball team won its second straight contest on the road Tuesday evening. The 57-40 victory over the City College of New York, puts the Hawks at 8-13 overall and 5-6 in conference action.
Four members of the Purple and Gold logged double-digits in the game as
Kimberly Lau led the team with 13.
Maya Thompson put up ten points in the win and grabbed seven boards while Erin Kosio and
Kristina Krslovic also had ten a piece.Â
Overall, Hunter out-shot the 0-16 Beavers, in both field goals, and three-point baskets. The team also forced 32 turnovers, while protecting the ball, allowing just 13 from the home team. Lau grabbed a career-high five steals for night, contributing the Hunter's 11 overall.
Although the Beavers kept it close with the score at an 11-all stalemate at the close of the first quarter, the Hawk were determined, as
Erin Cosio banked a three in the final seconds of the first half, to lead 24-21 going into the intermission.
Hunter led by as much as nine during the third, but the home team pushed the pace and tied the game back up at 32-32 the start the final period of play.Â
The Purple and Gold were relentless in their pursuit of a win, putting up 25 points in the fourth quarter, while holding its opponent to just eight.
Hunter returns to the court on Wednesday night for its final game of the regulary season, as the squad suits up to visit Lehman College. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
