Bronx, NY - The men's tennis team opened their 2022 season this afternoon with a conference matchup against Lehman College. The Hawks dominated play in both singles and doubles and came away with a 9-0 victory. Their record stands at 1-0 overall and 1-0 in league action.
Christopher Popovic and
Jairo Baquero Molina made quick work of opponents Oscar Garcia and Kenneth Davis at top flight doubles and won by a score of 8-3. The duos of
Justin Pazmino and
Kenneth Del Cid at second doubles and
John Devakanmalai and
Nicholas Caicedo at third doubles each blanked their opponents with scores of 8-0.
The Purple and Gold swept the Lightning in each of the six singles matches and did not drop a single game, winning each match 6-0. Popovic and Baquero Molina played at #1 and #2 respectively while Caicedo was #3 and Pazmino #4.
Anil Singh and Del Cid rounded out the final singles matches.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 26 when they travel out to Patchogue, NY for a non-conference contest against St. Joseph's College - Long Island. It is slated for a noon start time.
