Brooklyn, NY - The men's tennis team suffered their first loss of the season after being edged by Brooklyn College, 5-4. Their record now stands at 2-1 overall and 1-1 in league action.
The Purple and Gold got off to a good start, winning two of three in doubles action.
Christopher Popovic and
Jairo Baquero Molina fell 8-3 at top flight action but were picked up by the duos of
Justin Pazmino and Kenneth Del Cit at #2 doubles and
Nicholas Caicedo and ANil Singh at third doubles. The Hawks won 8-2 and 8-1 respectively and headed into singles play up 2-1.
At top flight singles, Popovic was held at bay 6-4, 6-2. However, Baquero took down Tre Laforce at #2 singles, 6-3, 6-0 and Caicedo tacked on another win for the Purple and Gold with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Mujibur Shaad.
Pazmino split the first two sets with Aymen Kuc, 3-6 and 6-1 but fell 4-6 in the third. Hunter was unable to come away with another win after Singh and Del Cit fell in #5 and #6 singles respectively in similar scores.
Up next, the Hawks will host Baruch College on Saturday, April 2nd in their first home meet of the season. First serve is scheduled for a noon start.
