Flushing, NY - The men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss earlier this afternoon in a league matchup against the Bearcats of Baruch College. The Hawks were able to snag just one victory on the day and it came in doubles action. The loss move the Purple and Gold to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in CUNYAC action.
At first and second doubles, the duos of
Christopher Popovic and d
Jairo Baquero Molina at top flight, and
Justin Pazmino and Kenneth Del Cit, each suffered losses by the same 8-2 score. The highlight of the day came when
Nicholas Caicedo and
Anil Singh emerged victoriously from a hard fought 8-6 battle with their Baruch opponents. They headed into singles play down 2-1.
It was not the Hawk's day in singles action as not a single player was able to win more than three games, each falling in two sets. Popovic lost 6-3, 6-3 at top flight action while Pazmino at fourth singles fell by identical scores of 6-2. All other singles players won just two games or less.
Up next, the Hawks will hit the road for a non-conference contest at SUNY Purchase on Tuesday, April 5. First serve is at 3pm.
