Soccer Grabs First Win Over Old Westbury

New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's soccer team grabbed its first win of the 2022 season with a 3-0 shutout of Old Westbury at home on Saturday afternoon.

The perfect end of summer day set the stage for the match as the Hawks (1-4) played well on both sides of the ball, including a pair of goals from Captain Blaise Enama

The first point of the match game in the 28th minute as B. Enama scored off of an assist from Josh Ilyadzhanov. Not content with that, Ilyadzhanov netted a goal of his own, assisted by newcomer, Barry Alpha, just two minutes later to put Hunter up 2-0.

The Panthers (0-2) attempted an aggressive comeback. with four shots in the next eight minutes of play but were unable to get past Hunter keeper, Matthew Heimowitz

In the 39th minute, B. Enama scored his second tally of the day, once again assisted by Ilyadzhanov. 

The second half came and went without any additional points on the board, with Hunter logging an additional five shots in comparison to Old Westbury's three. 

Sophomore, Heimowitz garnered his first win in Purple and Gold with four saves to aid the Hawks in the shutout win.

Hunter returns to the pitch on Sept. 14 as they are hosted by St. Joseph's Brooklyn. Kick-off is slated for 6:30 pm on Randall's Island.
