BOX SCORE New York, NY- On a beautiful day on Randall's Island the Hunter College Hawks were unable to take home a third straight win vs SUNY Purchase on Saturday. A balanced and scorless first half led to a exciting and action packed second half that did not go Hunter's way.
Hunter outshot Purchase 12-9 and remained aggressive throughout the second half but the Panthers took advantage of their opportunities. 2 minutes into the seconf half, Hunter opened up the scoring, at 46:40 there was a loose ball in the box after a blocked shot, Senior Regis Enema gatherered the ball and slide it over to Alpha Barry who put it in the back of the net for his first goal of the season. The Hawks took the 1-0 lead.
Just 3 minutes later in what looked like Hunter would go up 2-0 on another Enema feed, Hunter was called offsides. in the 61st minute Luca LiVigini beat the goalie 1 on 1 and tied the game up at 1. Â
12 minutes later Purchase went up 2-1 on a goal by Devonte Dawson, The Hawks continued to pressure Purchase, and created a few great scoring chances. No opportunity was better than a header from Enema that was stopped by Purchase goalie Mario Olmeda with a diving save. Olmeda made three saves in the win, gathering up a number of long balls before the Hawks could get a second touch
Hunter returns to action on Wednesday September 21st, with a home game on Randall's Island Field #10, 2pm Kickoff vs Pratt.
