New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's soccer team opened up its season in a non-conference matchup against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday evening.
The Hawks (0-1) visited the Dolphins (1-0) at Randall's Island where they fell 0-2.
The home team got on the board early on, netting the first goal just 53 seconds in. Program standout,
Blaise Enama, logged a shot 17 minutes into the first half but was saved by Dolphins' keeper, Erik Pantoja.
B. Enama would make another attempt early in the second period of play but the shot was wide and Hunter remained down, 0-1.
In the 55th minute, CMSV would log their final tally of the game, pushing the lead to two.
Hunter keeper,
Matthew Heimowitz recorded two saves in his debute in the Hawk uniform. B. Enama led the team with three shots, followed by
Sammy Ahmed, with a pair of his own.
Overall, the Dolphins outshot Hunter's squad, 10-5, but only registered four on goal compared to the Hawks' three.
The Purple and Gold return to the pitch, on Sept. 3 at New Jersey City University. Kick-off is slated for 4:00 p.m.
