Jersey City, N.J.- The Hunter College men's soccer team dropped an 0-2 decision in their second match of the season against New Jersey City University.
The match was quiet for the first half with Hunter (0-2) recording just one shot on goal. The Gothic Knights (2-0) managed a handful of shots but were unsuccessful in all attempts and the two teams headed into the second half of play in a 0-0 stalemate.
The Hawks made a solid attempt late in the second half as a long pass in the 72nd minute allowed
Alejandro Sanchez a shot but an aggressive attempt by NJCU's goal tender kept the Purple and Gold off the board.
Shortly after, the home team logged a pair of goals in the 73rd and 74th minutes to put the Hawks at an 0-2 disadvantage.
Despite the loss, veteran keeper, Anthony Simos, logged 11 saves in 20 attemps. The team allowed just two goals against, the least in CUNYAC play for opening week.
Hunter will continue it's season on Monday Sept. 5 at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn.
