BOX SCORE New York, N.Y.- Hunter College had a thrilling second half of a conference game against Medgar Evers to walk away with a 5-0 victory, to remain undefeated in CUNYAC and extend their winning streak to four.
After a silent first half, leaving the two teams at a 0-0 stalemate heading into the second half, the Hawks returned with a renewed energy. Early in the second half, Bradley Espejo stepped up and coolly converted a penalty kick to give the Hawks the lead.
The lead was then extended by Conor Sullivan with a well-timed goal, assisted by Espejo. Kris Lage displayed incredible accuracy as he launched a stunning long-range shot into the back of the net, to extend the lead to 3-0. Saleel Eldin added to the lead, finding the back of the net off of a powerful strike.
The finishing touch was provided by David Zoblinsky, who came off the bench to score his first goal of the season, courtesy of an assist from Bashir Juwara. Zoblinsky's energetic play late in the match was instrumental in maintaining the Hawks' dominance.
This victory was a testament to the Hunter Hawks' collective effort. The midfield trio of Espejo, Lage, and Robin Sebastian controlled the game with their superb ball-handling and exceptional passing skills. They maintained possession for most of the match, allowing the Hawks to dictate the pace and tempo.
Hunter continues its season on Monday as they host Lehman College in its final home game of the year. The Hawks will honor their graduating seniors prior to the 8:00 pm start.
