The second seeded Hawks defeated the #3 seed John Jay Bloodhounds 5-3 in the CUNYAC semifinals. With the win Hunter advances to the championship match to in a rematch of last years final. The Hawks look to defend their title against top seeded Baruch on Thursday October 26th at 3pm.
John Jay took an early 2-0 lead wining both top flights in doubles, but the duo of
Mia Chan and
Lily O'Heir took home the first point, winning #3 doubles 8-3. Freshman
Sree Kolla knotted the match up at 2 with a win at #6 singles 6-3, 6-1. Lily MCANDREWS won in impressive fashion at #4 singles 6-1, 6-0, while rookie
Julia Aksamentova continued her impressive play with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #5 singles.
Captain
Anna Chapko took home the match with the 5th point winning 6-3 and 6-4 in #2 singles. The Hawks will
play Baruch on Thursday October 26th scheduled for a 3pm first serve. The match is being held at the National Tennis Center and being broadcast live by the CUNYAC conference.
