Mahwah, N.J.-The Hunter College women's basketball team opened up its season on the road Saturday afternoon against Ramapo College, 41-79.
The game started with Ramapo taking an early lead in the first quarter, building a 19-9 advantage. The Roadrunners continued to dominate throughout the game, extending their lead in each subsequent quarter.
The Hawks struggled offensively, shooting only 24.1% from the field and 11.5% from beyond the arc. They faced tough defense from Ramapo, with the Roadrunners recording 16 steals and 6 blocks in the game.
Despite the loss, the Hawks recorded 13 points off the bench, just behind Ramapo's 16, and managed 14 second chance points over their opponent's nine.Â
Alexa Charles led the Hawks in scoring with 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for a double-double in addition to two steals. Erin Cosio contributed 10 points in addition to a pair of rebounds.Â
The Hawks look to bounce back on Wednesday Nov. 15 as travel to Pratt for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
