<strong>New York, N.Y.-</strong> The Hunter College men's basketball team hosted SUNY Brockport in a close contest in the Sportsplex on Tuesday evening as they fell just short at 70-67. <p>The first half saw Brockport  (2-1) taking an early lead, with a halftime score of 41-33. The Hawks (2-4)  made a comeback effort in the second half, outscoring  Brockport 34-29. Jack Meyers and Casey Meyers played crucial roles in Hunter's resurgence, especially with their three-point shooting. Despite a lower shooting percentage in the second half,  Brockport's earlier advantage allowed them to maintain the lead as the game came to a close.<br /> <br /> Jack Meyers led the Hawks with 26 points and five rebounds, including an impressive five threes. Casey Meyers also logged double-digits with 14 points on the night, while Kareem McDonald added 10. Luka Jakic also proved a pivotal force for Hunter with a season-high eight blocks on the night in addition to seven points, six rebounds, and five assists.<br /> <br /> Overall the Hawks shot for 41.3% from the field, ahead of Brockport's 39.7%. Forced turnovers proved to be important for both teams and Hunter forced 20 with 12 steals to convert for 19 points, while its opponent converted 21 turnovers and 13 steals to 21 points.<br /> <br /> Hunter continues its season on Dec. 1 as they host rival, Baruch in the annual Homecoming game. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.</p> <p></p>
