New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team hosted cross-town rival, Baruch to open up conference play at the annual Homecoming game on Friday night. Hunter dropped its first conference game of the season, falling to the Bearcats, 81-55.
Baruch (4-3, 1-0 CUNYAC) took the lead after the Hawks' (2-5, 0-1 CUNYAC) first basket and maintained for the majority of the night. The two teams headed into the half with the Bearcats up 43-26, despite the Hawks' impressive 57.14% thre point percentage on the half. Baruch came out of half time more efficient and would ultimately take home a win for their first CUNYAC game of the season.
Despite the loss,
Kareem McDonald netted 14 points on the night to lead the Hawks.
Corey Jones Jr. added nine off the bench, followed by
Jack Meyers with seven.
Hunter returns to the court on Dec. 4th as they take on Manhattanville at home at 7:00 p.m.
