New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's basketball team picked up an 85-42 win at home against Purcahse College in the Sportsplex on Monday evening.
The Hawks (3-5) came out energized, completely silencing the Panthers (0-6) until the final minute of the first quarter as they dominated, 18-3. The pattern continued in the second quarter as the Hawks went into halftime with a substantial 43-12 lead. The third quarter showcased Hunter's talent on both sides of the ball as they continued to hold their lead over the Panthers. Despite being outscored 16-13 in the final period, the Hawks overwhelmed Purchase as they secured a 43 point victory, their largest margin of the season.
Sophomore guard
Alexa Charles led the way for the hosts with a double double performance, recording a game-high 28 points (13-16), 10 rebounds and seven steals.
Erin Cosio added 15 points as she shot 3-6 from three.
Eliah Yode turned a double-digit performance as well with 10 points in addition to four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Hunter shot 53.8 percent from the field (35-of-65) and 45.5 percent from 3-point range (5-of-11), in addition to going 10-of-16 (62.6%) at the line. The Hawks limited Purchase to 32.6 percent (15-of-46) shooting from the field, while also producing 41 points off the Panthers's 36 turnovers. Hunter also held a 41-21 advantage in rebounds.
