New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's basketball team grabbed a win in a non conference match up against Yeshiva University at home this evening, 70-64 as the Hawks improve to 4-5 and Yeshiva fell to to 3-6 overall.
In the first quarter, both teams struggled to find their rhythm, with Yeshiva leading 14-10. However, the Hawks bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring their opponent 26-8 and taking a 36-22 lead at halftime. The third quarter saw Yeshiva making an effort to close the gap, but Hunter maintained the lead with a score of 60-39 by the end of the quarter.
The final quarter witnessed a more competitive effort from the visitors, but the Hawks ultimately secured the victory with a final score of 74-60.
Alexa Charles was a standout player for Hunter, leading the team with 28 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 steals, for another double-double. Katie Burke contributed 17 points, while Erin Cosio added 12 points, including some crucial three-pointers.
Both teams showed varying shooting percentages throughout the game, but Hunter's dominance in the second quarter played a crucial role in securing the win. The game featured multiple lead changes, with the Hawks ultimately pulling away in the second quarter and maintaining their lead until the end.
