New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's swimming team showcased a dominating performance at home against Purchase College in the North Pool on Friday evening with a 77-16 win.
The Hawks took home the gold in 10 events for the night, starting with the 200-yard medley relay comprised of
Lian Winter,
Cara Chang,
Kateryna Titarenko, and
Kiana Guarino, with a team time of 2:06.28. The Hawks took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:53.18, with a team of Lian, Gwedolyn Posner, Chang, and Titarenko,
Posner took first in the longest race of the day, the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 14:06.9, as well as in the 500-yard freestyle, where she finished in 6:47.08.
Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva also garnered two individual first place finishes in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:34.02, and the 100-yard backstroke.
Nayesha Krishna also took home a first place title in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:30.16.
Hunter managed 1-2 finishes in multiple races, starting with the 50-yard freestyle where Chang finished first with a time of 27.51, followed by
Nancy Leal at 28.45. In the 100-yard butterfly, Winter was the top finisher at 1:09.67, followed by Leal at 1:10.56. The Hawks also took both gold and silver in the 700-yard freestyler, as Guarino came out on top at 59.23, followed by Titarenko with a time of 1:01.23.
