New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team traveled down Lexington on Thursday evening to take on long time rival, Baurch College in a CUNYAC matchup. The Bearcats (17-5, 9-2 CUNYAC) snapped the Hawks' (8-13, 5-6 CUNYAC) three game win streak, 129-85.
Hunter started off strong, taking a 7-2 lead early on. The two teams kept it competitive, in a half that saw three lead changes. Despite 13 points in the first 20 minutes of play by Enzo Cacares-Roussel, Baruch was able to grab a six point edge, heading into the intermission, 59-53.
The Hawks slowed down in the second period of play, as the Bearcats held them to just 32 points compared to their 70 to be the latest winners in the Battle of Lexington.
Luka Jakic had another double-double performance, knocking down 16 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in addition to a block. Cacares-Roussel added another three pointer (3-5) in the second half for a total of 16 points on the night as he dished out three assists.
Gene Propper had a total of 12 points with eight rebounds, and five assists while grabbing a trio of steals.
Hunter resumes conference play on Wednesday Feb. 8 as they host Brooklyn College in the Sportsplex. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
