Women's Basketball Falls Short Against Brooklyn, 73-63

BOX SCORE New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's basketball team dropped at 73-63 decision to Brooklyn College at home on Wednesday evening.

Hunter (12-11, 7-4 CUNYAC) fell to the undefeated Bulldogs despite a valiant effort. After the first period, the Hawks were just edged out, 19-16. The two teams were evenly matched, putting together a back-and-forth battle for the second period, as Hunter logged 16 points in the second period while holding the visitors to 15 to head into halftime trailing by one possession, 34-31. Hunter matched the Bulldogs' in third period but Brooklyn held the Purple and Gold to just eight in the final quarter of play to remain undefeated.

Despite the loss, Hunter out shot their opponent both from the field and from three, as the team recorded 39.7% overall, compared to Brooklyn's 33.3%. The Hawks' sank eight threes (33.3%) while the Bulldogs were held to 16.2%, aided by Erin Cosio who shot 4-13 from beyond the arc. She led the team with 20 points for the night while added six assists and a steal. Alexa Charles continued to show out with yet another double-double. The rookie netted 17 points while grabbing 15 rebounds and grabbed three steals. Nia Chung added seven points and 13 rebounds.

The Hawks return to the court on Friday, Feb. 10th, as they travel to York for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
