Montclair, NJ - The Hunter College Softball team traveled to Montclair state on Saturday for a double header. Hunter dropped both games of the double header to the Red Hawks.
Game 1 was scorless game through 3, when the hosts broke through and scored 3 in the bottom of the third innning before Hunter was able to turn the inning over. Montclair tacked on 2 more in the 4th inning for a 5-0 lead. In the top fo the 7th the Hawks were still looking for their first base runner as with a single to lead off the inning
Olivia Palumbo started the rally.
Sophia Perez reached base on an error and
Paige Witalec ripped a double to drive both runners in. Montclair was able to get a double play and get out of the jam without anymore runs securing a win in game 1.
Game 2 Montlair jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and never looked back, Hunter was able to put some pressure on with base hits from Palumbo, Witaled and
Adriana Ramirez, but it was not enough to push any runs across the plate.
Hunter has their home opener on Wednesday March 22nd vs St. Joseph's Brooklyn first pitch scheduled for 3pm on field 12 at Randall's Island.
