New York, NY- The Hawks swept a unique double header playing York college twice on Thursday night and taking both matches 3-0. With the win the Hawks kept their winning streak alive with 10 in a row, and are now 14-5 overall and 10-0 in CUNYAC Play.
In match #1 the Hawks controlled the pace throughout winning 25 9, 25 - 6, 25- 6.
Cooper Moran had a team high and game high 22 assists on the Hawks 27 kills. As a team Hunter hit .384. The 24 teams digs came from 7 different players with
David Lou having a game high 7.
Jimmy Chang had 7 kills to lead the Hawks, while Andrew Estiverene had 5 kills on 5 swings for a perfect hitting percentage.
The Hawks had 17 aces a team, led by Morans with 6,
Ted Kim chipped in with 3 aces and 5 kills to help Hunter to remain unbeaten in conference play.
In match #2 Hunter again controlled the game throughout with a 3-0 win 25-7, 25-3, and 25-4. As a team the Hawks hit a really impressive .623 and were led by
Sergio Aguado who moved up to the front line in this match and had 10 kills on 16 swings, both are career highs for the freshman from Spain.
Cooper Moran dished out 21 assists to 7 different teammates, and chipped in with 4 digs.
David Lou stuffed the stat sheet with 5 kills, 7 aces and 9 digs to lead the Hawks to the double header sweep.
Hunter returns to action on Monday when they travel to CUNYAC foe Medgar Evers for their second match up of the season. In the previous match Hunter won 3-0 on March 9th.
