New York. N.Y.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team swept Lehman College, 3-0, in a home conference matchup on Tuesday evening. The win pushes the Hawks to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in CUNYAC play while the Lightening falls to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in conference. 

Hunter dominated the first set, 25-9. After a 1-1 tie to start, the Hawks scored the next eight consecutive points to go up 9-1. The Purple and Gold continued to lead, taking the largest lead of the match at 22-5 after a service ace from Niro Osborne. Despite Lehman's flash energy, outscoring Hunter 4-3 in the final points, the Hawks closed out the first set quickly to go up 1-0. Hunter road that momentum through the rest of the match, taking set #2 25-12. Despite Lehman coming within two points on multiple occasions the Hawks remained unstoppable and froze the Lightening out with an 11-2 run to go up 2-0. The Hawks took the final set of the game, 25-15 to close out their 3-0 sweep of the Lightening and remain undefeated in conference.

Junior Cooper Moran paced the Hawks with 26 assists and chipped in four digs on the back line.  Hunter was led by freshman, Matissee Lee-Maarek who had 13 kills on 19 swings hitting .684 in addition to five blocks. Ted Kim had a game high 11 digs and nine kills. Freshman, Sergio Aguado added another 10 digs on the back line and a pair of blocks. Niro Osborne, Jimmy Chang, and Andrew Estiverne all added two aces each in the win.

The Hawks continue their home slate on Thursday March 9 as they host Medgar-Evers in another conference match. First serve is slated for 6:00 p.m.
