Patchogue, NY - The Hunter Women's Volleyball team traveled to Suffolk County, Long Island, for a non-conference matchup at St. Joseph's of Long Island. The Hawks walked away with a come-from-behind 3-1 win. Next up for Hunter is Farmingdale State, with the first serve set for 6 pm at the Sportsplex.
Hunter dropped the first set 24-26, and in sets 2, 3, and 4, they opened up a double-digit point lead in each of the sets. Tessa Winkleman continued her solid play in week 2 of the season, leading the Hawks with 11 kills on the night. She also had the highest hitting percentage on the team at .348. Senior outside Tionna Moss also had another impressive night with 10 kills and 3 block assists, while hitting just a bit lower than Winkleman at .333. Pearl Mensah dominated the middle of the net with 7 kills, 4 block assists, while hitting .312.
Bethany Tomenang had 27 assists, pacing the offense. Erin Dugan patrolled the back line with 27 digs out of the Libero spot. Hunter, as a team, had a 43-25 advantage in kills and out-hit St. Joe's 202 to -.053. On the defensive side, the Hawks picked up a 7-1 advantage in team blocks and a 67-41 advantage in digs.
