Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Espejo nets two but it is not enough to beat Old Westbury

Old Westbury, NY - The Hunter College Men's Soccer team scored their first two goals of the season but couldn't secure their first win, as they dropped a 3-2 non-conference game at SUNY Old Westbury. The Hawks will attempt to bounce back when they travel to William Patterson on Wednesday for a 7 pm kickoff.

Hunter conceded a goal at 2:04 of the game when Ismael Ramirez scored for Old Westbury. The Hawks' defense stepped up and eliminated any scoring chances for the rest of the half. "The key to us getting back into the game was Robin Sebastians' midfield play in that first half," Coach Cinelli said. At the 21:27 mark of the first half, Hunter earned a penalty kick, and Bradely Espejo tied the game at 1.

In the second half, Old Westbury matched the midfield play of the Hawks and scored goals at 59:09 and 71:11. The Hawks never gave up as they continued to apply pressure and narrow the gap. Espejo put his second goal in the back of the net at 82:03, but Hunter was never able to get the equalizer. Matt Heimowitz was in the net for the Hawks and made a game-high 2 saves.
