Jamacia, NY - The Hunter College Women's Tennis team secured their first conference win with a dominant 9-0 victory over York College. Hunter's record now stands at 2-1 for the season, with a 1-0 conference record. The Hawks are set to travel to Brooklyn College next Wednesday, September 27th, for their upcoming matchup.
All six Hawks who participated today emerged victorious in both singles and doubles matches. Hunter swept all three double flights, each with an 8-0 scoreline. Anna Chapko and Grace Portuese teamed up for flight #1, Mariela Pechalova and Julia Aksamentova partnered for flight #2, and Lily O'Heir and Ava Cooper secured the win at #3 doubles.
In singles play, Julia Aksamentova at #4 secured the first singles point, followed by Anna Chapko's victory at #1 singles, which clinched the overall win for the Hawks. Freshman Ava Cooper continued to shine in her debut season with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles. The remaining three points were claimed by Mariela Pechalova, Grace Portuese, and Lily O'Heir.
