Brooklyn, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's basketball team fell to Brooklyn College in a City University of New York Athletic Conference match up on the road on Wednesday evening. With the 75-56 loss, the Hawks fall to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in conference while the Bulldogs are pushed to 8-6, and 3-1 in CUNYAC.
Brooklyn took the lead early on in the first quarter or play, leading by as much as 12 but a good jumped to close the period by
Erin Cosio cut their lead to eight heading into the second. From there the Bulldogs took off, despite several runs by Hunter including a 6-0 pattern where
Katie Burke and
Makkedah Murray each notched and-1s in the third, Hunter was unable to surpass their opponent's dominance and would ultimately fall in the conference match up.
Despite the loss,
Alexa Charles continued to lead the team with 23 points and eight rebounds while grabbing four steals. Cosio also managed double-digit points adding 16 of her own including a 3-7 performance from beyond the arc.
Eliah Yode also grabbed three steals in the loss, contributing to the Hawks' 21 forced turnovers which they converted for 15 points, just below the Bulldog's 18 points off of Hunter's errors. Hunter showcased its speed in the matc hup outscoring Brooklyn in fast break points, 11-6.
The Hawks look to bounce back on Friday Jan. 12 as they host CCNY for another conference matchup at 5:00 p.m.
