Medgar Evers got on the board first but after that the Hawks established a lead they would keep the remainder of the game. The two teams started off close with the Cougars coming within one at 12-11 with 14:59 on the clock but over the next 10 minutes of play Hunter would compound a double-digit lead after back-to-back jumpers from Corey Jones Jr. and Casey Meyers put the Purple and Gold up 33-23 at 5:52. Jones Jr. hit a three with 1:34 left in the first period for the Hawks' largest lead of the half at 47-29. The visitors managed to knock down out from beyond the arc before the intermission but Hunter still held a 15 point edge as they entered the intermission up 47-32.

Kareem McDonald sparked the Hawks' with seven points to open up the second half followed by an assist out to Luka Jakic to give Hunter a 20 point lead less than two minutes in. The Purple and Gold continued to dominate, going up by as much as 26 on two separate occasions, as the Cougars' come back attempts were stalled. The Hawks closed out a 21 point win at the end of a dominating night.

Brown led all Hawks coming off the bench with an impressive 17 points, the most of any bench player for Hunter this season, contributing to Hunter's 26 total nonstarter tallies as he shot perfect all around at 4-4 overall, 3-3 from beyond the arc and 6-6 from the line.
