Hawks Secure 82-68 Win at Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team secured a convincing 82-68 victory against over Medgar Evers on the road Wednesday evening. The win boosted Hunter's overall record to 4-9, with a 1-1 standing in the CUNYAC, while the Cougars dropped to 2-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The game unfolded with the Hawks taking an early lead in the first half, commanding the court with a robust offensive performance. Jack Meyers led with 16 points, supported by his efficient 8-17 field goal shooting. Casey Meyers showcased sharpshooting from beyond the arc, contributing 13 points with a 4-8 from three. Luka Jakic's presence in the paint was formidable, finishing with 13 points and an impressive 14 rebounds. The Hawks demonstrated their depth with significant contributions from Corey Jones Jr., William Brown, and Ryan Lau, each adding valuable points to the scoreboard.

Hunter shot an impressive 46.34% from the field, 38.89% from three-point range, and 50.00% from the free-throw line in the first half of play. Although their shooting percentages dipped slightly in the second half, the Hawks maintained control, finishing the game with a solid 40.3% overall field goal percentage, 35.7% from beyond the arc, and an impressive 62.1% from the free-throw line.

Defensively, the Purple and Gold showcased their prowess with a total of nine steals and an efficient conversion of turnovers into points, scoring 54 points off Medgar Evers' mistakes. The Hawks dominated the boards, securing 50 rebounds, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, which they converted for 15 points.

Hunter returns the court as they continue conference play on Jan. 5 hosting John Jay for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
