Hunter Grabs Two Wins in Trimatch

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 Camden, N.J.- The Hunter College women's volleyball team continued their impressive season with two straight-set victories in the Rutgers-Camden Trimatch, bringing their record to 17-5. The Hawks displayed their depth and versatility, with standout performances from key players leading them to wins over Delaware Valley and Rutgers-Camden.

Match 1: Hunter 3, Deleware Valley 0 
In the first match of the day, Hunter cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-19, 25-17) over Delaware Valley, controlling the pace from the start.

Setter Bethany Tomaneng expertly orchestrated the Hawks' offense, dishing out 27 assists while also adding six digs and a service ace. Hunter's balanced attack also featured contributions from Amina Moummad, who added six kills, and Lily Mattison, who chipped in five kills while also playing a significant role on defense with four blocks.

On defense, Hunter was anchored by libero Erin Dugan, who notched a match-high 11 digs and served three aces, keeping the pressure on Delaware Valley's serve reception. Williams and McIntyre also contributed defensively, with both players recording 10 digs each.

Hunter's overall efficiency and aggressive play allowed them to control the pace of the match, limiting Delaware Valley's attack and forcing them into errors. The Hawks finished with 35 kills and 49 digs as a team, capping off an excellent all-around performance​


Match 2: Hunter 3, Rutgers-Camden 0
Hunter followed up with another 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-19, 25-20) over host Rutgers-Camden in the afternoon match. A balanced offensive effort led by Moummad, who posted nine kills with a .333 hitting percentage, and Tomaneng's efficient six kills on .385 hitting, kept Hunter in control.

Setter, Tomaneng was at her best, tallying 27 assists and adding nine digs, while libero, Dugan showcased her defensive prowess with a match-high 15 digs. Hunter's aggressive serving was a key factor, with Dugan notching an impressive seven aces and Lily Mattison chipping in with five  kills and four blocks, totaling on eight for the day, stifling Rutgers-Camden's attempts to mount a comeback.

Simone McIntyre added four kills and a pair of blocks, contributing on both sides of the net, as the Hawks' defense stayed relentless. Hunter held Rutgers-Camden to a .040 hitting percentage, capitalizing on their opponents' errors.

The Hawks return to the court on Oct. 22 as they host Baruch in the Battle of Lexington at 6:00 p.m. in the Sportsplex.
