BOX SCORE Flushing, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's tennis team secured a 9-0 win over City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) opponent, Brooklyn College at home on Saturday afternoon, to improve to 3-1 in conference competition (3-4 overall), while the Bulldogs fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in conference.
The Hawks started off with wins in all three doubles matches, highlighted by Sree Kolla and Sara Novo's 8-0 victory at no. 2 doubles. The standout duo of Anna Chapko and Julia Aksamentova also took a dominate 8-1 victory in the first doubles slot, while rookies Sara Contreras and Olivia Salsgubaite closed out doubles play with an 8-3 win at no. 3.
Hunter's performance only got better as the day went on, giving up only six sets across all six singles matches. In the top singles slot, Chapko grabbed her first singles victory of the season (6-0, 6-2), followed by Novo in the second slot (6-0, 6-1). Contreras and Kolla each blanked their opponents with 6-0, 6-0 wins at no. 3 and no. 5 singles, respectively while Aksamentova garnered her second win of the day in no. 4 singles (6-1, 6-1). Rounding out points for the day was Summer Nietubicz who took yet another straight set victory in the final singles slot (6-1, 6-0).
The Hawks continue their season at York on Oct. 8. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m.
