Hunter Grabs 66-59 Win Over Pratt in Home Opener

New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team secured a thrilling come-from-behind victory, defeating Pratt 66-59 in the team's home-opener. The Hawks, now 1-1 on the season, used a dominant second half to overturn a seven-point halftime deficit, outscoring Pratt (0-3) 43-29 in the final period.

Casey Meyers led the Hawks scoring with 18 points, largely powered by an exceptional 13-of-16 performance from the free-throw line. Meyers also contributed defensively with four rebounds and a steal in his 34 minutes on the court.

Sal Saputo added 13 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, including key defensive boards that kept Pratt from extending their lead. Saputo also made clutch plays down the stretch, going 5-of-7 from the line.

Donovon Cola chipped in 12 points, including a critical layup and a second-chance tip-in that helped shift momentum in Hunter's favor. Cola was active on both ends, securing five rebounds and adding three blocks.

Jayden Jarret provided an efficient spark, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and collecting six rebounds. Enzo Caceres-Rousse led the team in assists, dishing out nine.

Hunter's shooting from the field was 31.7%, but their aggressive play paid off at the free-throw line, where they converted 72.4% of their 29 attempts. The Hawks' defensive intensity forced Pratt into 20 turnovers, which they capitalized on, scoring 18 points off those miscues.

The Purple and Gold returns to the court on Friday Nov. 15 as they head to Maritime for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
