New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College wrestling team hosted York College (PA) and Shenandoah University in the Hawks' Trimatch in the Sportsplex on Saturday afternoon.
Hunter started the day against Shenandoah where Botensky Bauzile was the standout wrestler, securing a pin at 1:56 in the 133 lbs. weight class over Heath Burks. The Hawks' also saw promising results in exhibition matches with Jack Kent securing another pin for the Hawks at 157 lbs. at 2:46 against Noah Diamond. Martin Palomeque (165 lbs) had a dominant performance as well, securing the major decision win, 18-5, over Daiveon Barlow.
In the team's second match of the day, the team faced off against York (PA), where Jayden Medina continued to impress. At 149 lbs. he secured a major decision over Daniel Barra, 12-4.
Dane Henry also showed a valiant effort at 285 lbs. in a thrilling bout against Derek Martin. Despite falling after a second tie break, Herny showcased stamina and determination in a long match.
The Hawks will return to the mat in the new year, as they compete at the William's Open on Jan. 4 in Williamstown, Mass.
