Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Hawks Split at Springfield Trimatch

Springfield, Mass.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team split a trimatch at Springfield on Saturday afternoon, grabbing a 3-0 win over Russel Sage to start the day before falling to no. 7 Springfield in three sets.

Game 1
The Hawks started the day against Russell Sage (5-18, 1-5 NEVC) victory with set scores of 25-11, 25-20, 25-20 to push the Hawks' streak to six, their longest this season,

From the first whistle, Hunter asserted their dominance, setting the tone for the match. Led by Cooper Moran's  playmaking, distributing 25 assists throughout the game, Hunter orchestrated their attacks with finesse. Moran's strategic distribution of the ball kept Russell Sage's defense on their toes, leaving little room for recovery.

The offensive charge was led by Al-Amine Mbaye Muhammad, whose impressive .778 hitting percentage showcased his efficiency on the court. Muhammad's eight kills contributed significantly to Hunter's offensive onslaught, often leaving Russell Sage scrambling to respond.

Defensively, Hunter remained steadfast, with Lucas George leading the charge with seven digs. George's defensive prowess, combined with solid blocking from the team, thwarted Russell Sage's attempts to gain momentum.

Game 2
Hunter's win streak was snapped against its first ranked opponent of the season, falling in three sets (11-25, 17-25, 21-25) to no. 7 Springfield (17-3). The Hawks fought valiantly, with Al-Amine Mbaye Muhammad leading the charge with seven kills, but they struggled to match Springfield's intensity and efficiency on both ends of the court. Hunter's defense, anchored by Brandon Yeh's three digs and Jon Pflueger's three blocks, attempted to contain Springfield's offensive barrage but ultimately fell short.

The Hawks return to the court on Tuesday March 26 as they resume conference play at Baruch.
