New York, N.Y.- In a challenging match up against conference rival Baruch College, the Hunter College men's volleyball team faced a tough test on the road. Despite their efforts, Hunter couldn't secure a victory, falling to Baruch in three sets with scores of 21-25, 22-25, and 15-25. With this loss, Hunter's season record now stands at 13-10 overall and 10-2 in CUNYAC play, while the Bearcats moved to 14-6 and 11-0 in league play.
The first set saw both teams trading blows, with neither side willing to concede an inch. Hunter's defense put up a strong resistance, but Baruch's precision passing and aggressive attacks proved to be too much to handle, as they edged out Hunter to claim the set 25-21.
Undeterred by the setback, Hunter regrouped and came out firing on all cylinders in the second set. Foley, Deljanin, and Mbaye led the charge, unleashing a barrage of thunderous kills and expertly placed serves to keep the pressure on Baruch. However, Baruch's resilient defense held firm, repelling Hunter's advances and eventually sealing the set 25-22.
With their backs against the wall, Hunter entered the third set with renewed determination. The players dug deep, displaying incredible hustle and determination on every play. However, Baruch's experience and composure shone through as they tightened their grip on the match, closing out the set 25-15 to secure the victory.
Hunter continues its season on Thursday as they host John Jay in the team's annual senior night.
