Flushing, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's tennis team opened up the 2024 season with a conference match against Baruch at the USTA Bilie Jean King Tennis Center as they fell 9-0.
The day started out as Alexader Hagiu and
Raymond Leu teamed up for no. 1 doubles. The pair managed to put up four points but was unable to overcome Baruch, falling 8-4. No. 2 doubles was another defeat for Hunter with
Anil Singh and
Ali Elshehawey dropped the match, 8-2.
Sandro Schwyzer and
Krishna Arya rounded out doubles play with a 8-1 loss at no. 3.
In singles play, Hagiu played at the no. 1 slot, after dropping the first set 6-0, he pushed for a comeback but ultimately fell 6-4, dropping the match in two sets. The Hawks lost the remainder of their singles matches but looks to the next match to improve on April 6th against Ramapo.
