New York, N.Y.- In a home CUNYAC match up, the Hunter College men's volleyball team secured a 3-0 win over Lehman College to remain undefeated in league play at 5-0 (6-7 overall) and push the team's streak to five straight. The loss drops Lehman to 4-3 in conference play and 7-9 overall.
From the opening serve, Hunter took control. Led by Cooper Moran's setting, Muhammad Al-Amine Mbaye on the offensive, and Annes Deljanin's blocking, the Hawks seized the first set with a score of 24-14.
The Lightening fought back in the second set, showcasing moments of resilience, but could not over come the Purple and Gold as Matisse Lee-Maarek, Kyle Foley, and Deljanin continued to dominate the net, securing crucial points for Hunter. Despite Lehman's efforts, Hunter maintained their composure and closed out the set 25-17.
Entering the final set at 2-0, the Hawks jumped out to a commanding lead. With momentum on their side, Hunter secured the set 25-16, completing a clean sweep over the Lightening.
Deljanin led the team with eight kills, three service aces, and seven blocks. Foley also added eight kills of his own, while Al-Amine Mbaye tallied six in addition to three aces, three digs, and three blocks.Â
Hunter continues its season on Friday March 8 as they travel to Rutgers-Newark for non-conference match at 6:00 p.m.
