New York, N.Y.-  Hunter College is excited to announce the appointment of Mike Fisher as the head coach of the Hawks' softball program. Coach Fisher brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in coaching, education, and leadership.

Fisher's extensive coaching resume includes roles at Purchase College (SUNY), Bronx High School of Science, Sleepy Hollow Schools, and John Jay High School. Among his many accomplishments, he founded and led the Pro-Swing Lady Pride 18U showcase team, which earned a remarkable seventh-place finish at Worlds in 2016 and helped numerous athletes advance to NCAA programs.

With a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Lehigh University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Manhattanville College, Fisher's more than 20 years of experience as an educator further enhance his ability to mentor and develop student-athletes both on and off the field. As a teacher at PS 153 in the Bronx, he specialized in Physical Education and elementary education, creating and implementing innovative curricula for diverse student populations.

Coach Fisher emphasizes not only winning and skill development but also the invaluable life lessons that come from being part of a team. "Playing on a sports team's greatest value is developing a deeper understanding of 'Team' and of 'Teammates,'" Fisher said. "I'm excited to bring this philosophy to Hunter College and work with our student-athletes to help them succeed on the field and in life."

Beyond coaching and education, Fisher brings a strong business acumen, having held leadership positions in retail and successfully owning and operating Carmel Printing, where he managed operations, sales, and contracts.

Certified as a Registered Athletic Administrator (NIAAA) and holding multiple educational and health-related certifications, Fisher is committed to fostering the holistic growth of his athletes. A former Division I football player, he enjoys weightlifting, supporting his Pittsburgh Steelers, and walking his rescue dogs. Most of all, he values spending time with his family and takes pride in the achievements of his daughter and son.
