Flushing, N.Y.- The City University of New York Athletic Conference released its weekly award winners, with
Alexa Charles earning yet another nod for her impressive week.
In a 2-0 week, Charles averaged a double-double,solidifying her status as one of the top players in Division III women's basketball. Across two games this week, Charles average 29.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 7.0 steals per game while shooting an impressive 63.4% from the field and 87.5% from the free-throw line.
In Hunter's victory over Lehman (1/22), Charles dominated with 33 points on a 15-of-18 shooting, complemented by 10 rebounds, and nine steal for a near triple-double. Against York (NY), on Jan. 24, she followed up with 26 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the week (ninth for the season). The junior guard contributed across the board with three steals, a pair of assists, and a block, showcasing her all-around skill.
Charles remains a key leader on the team, with her all around athleticism on display, as she played over 38 minutes in the team's conference win over Lehman, and 26:48 against York (NY), to help the team remain undefeated in CUNYAC play. This week, in just her third season with the Hawks, she became the no. 3 all-time leading scorer in program history as well.
The Hawks return to the court tonight as they travel to Sarah Lawrence for a non-conference game at 6:00 p.m.
