New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team faced a tough opponent in Middlebury College at home on Monday evening, falling 92-67.
The Hawks (2-10) were led by
Sal Saputo early in the game, as he finished with nine points, five rebounds, and three assists while also grabbing an impressive four steals in his 22 minutes on the court. Freshman,
Noah Outmezguine stepped up off the bench, tying Saputo for a team high nine points, shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, while also dishing out an assist in his best performance to date.
Kristian Nunez was also a force off the bench, chipping in six points with strong finishes around the rim, with Middlebury (8-4) struggling to stop him.
David Kruszewski and
Gene Propper provided energy in limited minutes, combining for nine points and showing promise for Hunter's depth moving forward.
Donovan Cola and Jack Meyes contributed seven points each, while
Casey Meyers and
Enzo Caceres-Roussel grabbed four rebounds a piece.
Hunter displayed resilience, shooting 36.4% from three-point range and converting 64.7% of their free-throw attempts. The team battled hard on the glass, pulling down 33 rebounds and limiting Middlebury's second-chance opportunities in stretches.
The Hawks look to bounce back on Jan. 13 as they resume conference play, hosting Medgar Evers at 7:00 p.m. in the Sportsplex.
