NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's volleyball team fell in straight sets on Friday night at NYU, Despite the 3-0 setback (25-12, 25-14, 25-21), the Hawks showed resilience in the final frame, putting together a late push before running out of time.
Hunter (6-19) battled through a difficult first two sets as the Violets (13-7) hit over .500 in the opening frame and .379 in the second. The Hawks struggled to find rhythm early but came to life in the third set, trading points and forcing five tie scores throughout the final frame before falling just short.
Amina Moummad continued to be a bright spot for the Purple and Gold, leading the team with eight kills while hitting .250. Senior
Lily Mattison added five kills, a solo block, and three block assists to finish with a team-high 8.5 points, while
Kassidy Cruz Nuesi chipped in three kills and a pair of digs.
Madeline Snyder orchestrated Hunter's offense with 16 assists and added six digs and an ace.

The Hawks return to conference play on Oct. 21 as they host Medgar Evers for an 6 p.m. match in the Sportsplex.
