Hunter Rolls Past Medgar Evers in Dominant Conference Win

NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's volleyball team put together one of its most commanding performances of the season on Tuesday night, sweeping Medgar Evers 3-0 (25–3, 25–12, 25–6) in front of a home crowd at the Hunter Sportsplex. With the win, the Hawks improved to 7-19 overall and 3-2 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play.

The Purple and Gold hit .400 as a team, led by a career-best showing from senior Lily Mattison, who tallied 12 kills on just 17 swings for a .529 hitting percentage. Mattison also served up a six aces and added two digs and a solo block to finish with a match-high 19.5 points.

Setter Madeline Snyder orchestrated the attack with 23 assists and an astounding 10 service aces, her highest mark of the season. The Arziona native added four digs and one block assist in the win.  Amina Moummad made an impact in her single set on the court, finishing with three kills on .429 hitting along with four aces.

Vera Montalbano chipped in three kills, two aces, and four digs, while Varvara Kudinova posted four kills and a .600 hitting clip. Michelle Liu and Daphne Reyeg each contributed an ace, with Liu hitting .500 and Reyeg adding a kill and a dig.

Hunter held the visitors to just one kill across the three sets while forcing 17 attack errors. The Hawks also tallied 25 service aces as a team, their highest total of the season.

The Hawks return to the court on Oct. 25 at the DeSales Tri-Match starting at 1:00 p.m.
