Women’s Tennis Celebrates Senior Day With 6–1 Win Over Baruch

NEW YORK, N.Y.—The Hunter College women's tennis team closed out its regular season in style on Monday afternoon, defeating Baruch College 6–1 on Senior Day at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Hawks honored graduating seniors Anna Chapko, Jade Schoenfeld, and Sara Contreras, all of whom delivered victories in their final home appearance.

Hunter (9-0, 6-0 CUNYAC) opened the match by sweeping doubles play behind dominant performances from its senior trio. At No. 2 doubles, Sara Novo and Sree Kolla earned Hunter's first point with a 6–1 win. The senior pair of Chapko and Contreras followed moments later with a clean 6–0 victory at No. 3. In the top flight, Isabella Tchij and Schoenfeld closed out a tight 7–5 win to complete the sweep.

In singles, Schoenfeld shined on her senior day with a straight-set victory at No. 2, taking down Lucia Harranz Sanchez 6–4, 7–5. Chapko delivered the afternoon's most dramatic finish at No. 3, outlasting Baruch's Maria Calvo Prado 6–1, 2–6, 7–5 to secure another point for the Hawks. At No. 4, Novo rolled to a 6–0, 6–0 shutout, while Julia Aksamentova added a convincing 6–1, 6–2 win at the fifth flight.

Kolla capped Hunter's singles scoring with a gritty, extended 7–6, 7–5, 6–0 victory on court six, sealing the team's sixth and final point of the day.
