BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Hunter College men's basketball team came up short in its first road contest of the season, falling to Pratt Institute, 68–57, on Saturday evening in Brooklyn.
After a tightly contested first half that saw the Hawks trail by just one, 34–33, Pratt pulled away in the second with a 34–24 edge to seal the non-conference win.
JP Maaba led Hunter with 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting, including two three-pointers. He added three assists and a steal in a high-energy performance. Jayden Jarrett tallied 15 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Jeremiah Otasowie added 11 points and six boards.
The Hawks hit five threes in the first half but were held to just one in the second, finishing 6-of-21 from long range. Despite forcing 12 turnovers and matching Pratt with 30 rebounds, Hunter struggled to convert second-chance opportunities and shot just 28.6% after the break.
Hunter (0–2) returns to the court on Nov. 15 at DeSales University for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
