NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's swim team dominated in its home opener Wednesday evening, cruising to an 83-9 victory over Lehman College at the North Pool.
The Hawks swept both relays on the night, beginning with the 200-yard medley as Grace Valette, Mia Chang, Lily Bradshaw and Hailey-Madison Quiller combined for a winning time of 2:05.01. Hunter capped the meet with another relay victory in the 200-yard freestyle, as Valette, M. Chang, Molly Nettles and Cara Chang touched first in 1:53.50.
Nettles continued her strong start to the season, earning first-place finishes in both distance events. She claimed the 1000-yard freestyle in 13:21.35 and later captured the 500-yard freestyle in 6:30.54.
Hunter swept several individual events throughout the meet. In the 200-yard freestyle, Cara and Mia Chang took the top two spots with respective times of 2:15.42 and 2:16.78. Valette earned another gold in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 55.96, just shy of the program record of 55.83 set by Kiana Guarino at the 2023 METS Championships. Bradshaw followed in second with a time of 1:03.43 before earning a victory of her own in the 50-yard freestyle (27.91), while Quiller placed second (29.32).
Returner Anastasiia Lyshyk secured a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.83, while senior Gwendolyn Posner captured first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:25.58). Rookie Imani Chisolm followed in second with a 1:35.72 finish.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Winter Lian added another victory for the Hawks, finishing in 2:36.38 ahead of teammate Parvinabonu Mahkmadalieva (2:42.86). Quiller closed out the dominant performance with a win in her signature 100-yard butterfly, clocking 1:13.70, followed by freshman Annie Huang in second at 1:14.37.
Hunter returns to action on Nov. 15 when it travels to Ramapo College for a 2 p.m. dual meet.
