HOBOKEN, N.J.- Alexa Charles delivered her third triple-double of the season, finishing with 37 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals, but the Hunter College women's basketball team fell on the road to Stevens Institute of Technology, 82–67.
Charles played all 40 minutes, going 12-for-26 from the field, while sinking three from beyond the arc, and converting 10 of 12 free throws. It marked her third triple-double of the season, the most in all of Division III.
The Hawks struggled to contain a balanced Ducks (5-1) offense. Hunter trailed 26–22 after one quarter but remained within striking distance behind timely buckets from Charles and a pair of early threes from Ali Drake, who scored 16 points off the bench, her best performance of the season. Sophie Stratton also chipped in five points and four assists.
Despite cutting the deficit to three midway through the third, Stevens pulled away with a 25-point quarter fueled by second-chance opportunities and efficient shooting. The Ducks shot 50.8 percent from the field and outrebounded Hunter 49–36.
Still, Charles continued to produce at will, as she now averages 33.2 points per game on the year, leading Division III.
Hunter returns to action after Thanksgiving with a road matchup at Rutgers-Newark on Nov. 30. Tip-off is slated for noon.
