NEW YORK, N.Y.- In its final City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup of the regular season, the Hunter College women's volleyball team fell to Baruch College in four sets (25-13, 23-25, 25-27, 21-25) on Tuesday night at the ARC Arena.
Hunter (9-23, 4-3 CUNYAC) opened the match with a statement, dominating the first set behind a strong service game and timely kills. However, Baruch (11-13, 6-1 CUNYAC) responded in the following frames, edging out the Hawks in two tight sets before closing the match in the fourth.
Amina Moummad led the offensive effort with 12 kills and 11 digs, marking her ninth double-double of the season. Lily Mattison added 11 kills, six digs, and three service aces, continuing her consistent production at the net.
Setter Madeline Snyder guided the offense with 25 assists while contributing 16 digs, three kills, and four blocks. Defensively, Ana Duran chipped in four block assists, and Michelle Liu added two kills, four blocks, and four digs. Natalie Polanco and Kassidy Cruz Nuesi also made key defensive contributions, with Polanco picking up a dig and Cruz Nuesi adding three.
As a team, Hunter tallied 12 service aces, 16 total blocks, and 50 digs. The Hawks matched Baruch in nearly every statistical category, but struggled to close out the second and third sets despite several late leads.
The Hawks return to the court with a tri-match against Vasser and Merchant Marine this weekend before postseason play begins on Nov. 11.
