Hunter Sweeps Brooklyn, John Jay in Conference Tri-match

NEW YORK –  The Hunter College men's volleyball team dominated the competition at the John Jay Tri-Match on Saturday, sweeping both Brooklyn College and host John Jay in straight sets to improve to 7-6 on the season and 3-0 in CUNYAC play.

Hunter opened the day with a commanding 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-11) victory over Brooklyn College. The Hawks displayed an efficient offensive attack, hitting .313 as a team while holding Brooklyn to just .016 hitting percentage.

Kyle Foley led the charge with seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Ahmed Mohamed was equally effective with nine kills and a .500 clip. Setter Wesley Stubbs orchestrated the offense, dishing out 18 assists, while Jon Pflueger paced the service game with five aces. Defensively, Lucas George contributed four block assists, and the Hawks racked up eight total blocks to stifle Brooklyn's attack.

After a brief break, Hunter took on the hosting Bloodhounds, where the Hawks maintained their momentum with another dominant 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18) victory.

Mohamed continued his stellar play, leading all hitters with 13 kills, while Annes Deljanin delivered an efficient six kills on 10 attempts (.600). Foley added eight kills and George posted four with a .667 hitting percentage. Stubbs controlled the tempo with 13 assists, and Charles Pampliega anchored the defense with 17 assists and three digs.

Hunter's aggressive serving proved pivotal against John Jay, as the Hawks recorded 11 aces, with Mohamed leading the way with five. The team also registered 14 total blocks, with George and Pflueger making their presence felt at the net.

The Hawks return to the court on March 4, as they travel to York for a 6:00 p.m. match.
