Hunter Opens Spring Schedule at Farmingdale After Fall CUNYAC Title Run

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's tennis team (7-5) opened its spring schedule on Wednesday afternoon, falling 7-0 to Farmingdale State in a road matchup.

The contest marked the Hawks' first match since winning the 2024 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Championship in the fall, where they finished conference play with a 4-1 record to claim their third title in the last five seasons and a conference-record 24th championship. With the win, Hunter secured the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship this spring.

Against Farmingdale, the Hawks were limited to three active players and defaulted the No. 3 doubles and bottom two singles flights. Julia Aksamentova and Sree Kolla played competitively at No. 1 doubles before falling 6-3, while Aksamentova nearly extended her singles match to a tiebreaker in an 8-6 loss at the top flight. Samantha Moser and Hannah Butterworth each collected four games in their singles contests, but Farmingdale secured straight-set wins across the board to close out the match.

Hunter now awaits seeding for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
