MANCHESTER, Conn. — The Hunter College women's tennis team (7-6) closed out its 2025 season Friday afternoon with a 4-0 defeat to Vassar College (14-5) in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Magic Lincer Tennis Academy, where the match was relocated from Amherst College due to weather.

The Brewers struck early in doubles play, winning at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to take a 1-0 lead. Julia Aksamentova and Anna Chapko fell 6-0 on court one, while Sree Kolla and Sara Novo dropped their match 6-1 at No. 2. The No. 3 pair of Sara Contreras and Ava Cooper trailed 5-0 before the match was left unfinished.

Sree Kolla lost in straight sets at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Summer Nietubicz dropped her match 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6. Aksamentova then fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 to clinch the Brewers' advance.

Despite the loss, the Hawks earned their spot on the national stage with a CUNYAC Championship title in the fall, marking the program's continued success under head coach Alex Trezos.
